Retinal Imaging

Retinal images are an informative tool in the early detection of several retinal and systemic diseases.

At Panorama Optometry our Nidek AFC-210 retinal camera helps in the early detection and screening of retinal and systemic disorders.

The detailed view provided by the retinal camera ensures that the retina and it's structures are healthy and free from disease. This photo reveals retinal melanoma, a serious condition.

Digital retinal photography is an advanced testing procedure that uses an extremely specialized retinal camera. We include retinal imaging in our full eye examinations for almost every patient. A detailed retinal exam can aid the Doctor in detecting diabetes, hypertension, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes or detachments, and more. When there is a personal or family history of these types of disorders it is even more imperative that the patient receive a retinal examination. The photographs are reviewed by the Optometrist during your examination.

Many systemic and visual conditions will progress through multiple stages before they begin to affect your eyesight. With this technology we are able to screen for early signs of retina disorders and systemic diseases. When diagnosed early, various advanced treatments will be available, and are much more effective when these conditions are detected earlier.
